Today, integrated, adaptive water resources management [IWRM] is the preferred way of water managing water. Integrated river basin management [IRBM] is a subset: IWRM at the basin level. River basin governance refers to decisions in IRBM about water allocation, conservation and use within an adaptive-integrated management framework [more...]. These decisions involve stakeholders from government, business, water organizations and to the most local level of water use: irrigators, households and individuals. The challenge is to coordinate decisions across these groups for whole of catchment solutions.

This site serves as a resource on river basin governance for water managers. It includes information about DHI's strategy, projects and learning programs. Here you can explore new experiences in basin governance, see how improved practice is put in place and find resources for improving basin governance.

DHI provides tools to enhance decision-making by building capacity, undertaking research and providing consultancy services in:

DHI Denmark is a Centre for international organizations such as the UNEP Collaborative Centre on Water, World Health Organization and Global Water Partnership.

DHI Brisbane works in partnership with the Division of Environmental Engineering at the University of Queensland. We partner with two Brisbane-based water organizations: the International Water Centre and the International Riversymposium.
