TIME: Nov. 20th, 2006, 13:00 – 17:00
PLACE: Botanisk Auditorium, Gothersgade 140, Copenhagen (300 m from Nørreport Station)
Knowing what forces bind the individuals in a given species of microorganisms together is important both from a basic science viewpoint and from the viewpoint of safety, economics and even politics. Through four talks, what a species actually is will be described for the bacteria, for the new kingdom Archaea, for the viruses and the fungi. At the end of this afternoon, we may be able to discern other factors that bring us closer to a more general, unifying concept of species. Refreshments will be served after the talks in order to keep discussions going !
