The institutes DHI Water & Environment and the Danish Toxicology Centre - Health & Environment have conducted a merger as of October 1, 2005

05 Oct 2005   The institutes DHI Water & Environment and the Danish Toxicology Centre - Health & Environment have conducted a merger as of October 1, 2005. Both institutes have long traditions for servicing industry and authorities in Denmark and abroad in questions of water, health and the environment. Both institutes are also members of the Advanced Technology Group in Denmark, as will be the new institute.


Together, the two institutes possess impressive international expertise in the fields of toxicology and eco-toxicology. In Denmark, this merger creates by far the strongest interdisciplinary knowledge base for chemical substances and their effects on humans, animals and the environment. The new institute has in-depth knowledge of the European Union's new, proposed chemicals legislation REACH.

The new institute is already an imposing actor in the global knowledge arena; it has its own sizeable R&D activities with almost 600 highly trained scientists and technicians, 200 of these positioned in the institute's foreign offices.

DHI and DTC are both members of the Advanced Technology Group in Denmark.
