Central and regional Danish environmental authorities have commissioned DHI to perform operational marine modelling for the period 2004-2009. The activity is part of NOVANA, a program for surveillance of the aquatic and terrestrial environmental conditions. The outcome will be detailed hindcast simulations of the hydrodynamics in the Danish coastal and offshore areas and will include assimilation of available monitoring data to improve the description of what actually happened. The hindcast information will be available at a web-based database of the same type as the present for the DHI service The Water Forecast (www.waterforecast.com).
The new contract is related to Farvandsmodellen, a similar activity for 1998-2003 and DHI's operational service The Water Forecast for the Danish marine areas, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
